Drawings that stay drawings.

Here the tattoo doesn't hide that it's a drawing: construction lines stay in, hatching replaces even grey, and the edge opens instead of closing. It's the opposite of microrealism, where the stroke conceals itself so the image can pass for a photograph; in a drawing the stroke is the subject. It works because skin already has a texture of its own and takes a loose, almost graphite mark without it reading as a mistake.
