Botanical in fineline.

In botanical work the line does nearly all the drawing: the veining of a leaf, the edge of a petal, the twist of a stem reaching for light. Shading comes second and stays thin, only enough to suggest volume, because an over-rendered petal turns to mud and closes up within a few years. So the air between elements matters as much as the elements — fine line spreads with age and has to be given the room from the start. A lot of these follow the axis of an arm or a spine, like a botanical plate that adapted itself to a body.
